Bruno Sialelli, creative director of Lanvin, pays tribute to the identity of Madame Jeanne Lanvin, to her philosophy, remixed and contextualized in today’s world.
A bridge between the early 1900s in which she gave power to women, dressing them in a way that combined dynamism and romance, and today where the role of women is increasingly strong, thanks to their awareness of playing a key role in the society.
And here the dresses seem to float on tulle constructions, to blend into the lines of the body, the fabric drapes become spontaneous gestures in soft focus, the rough edges denote a gracefulness of movement. Even the knitwear caresses the body, while the volumes of the fourrures are recreated with metallic fabrics.
Lightness can also translate into the brightness of the fabrics: from the liquid gazar and metallic mesh, reflective and sparkling, to the shimmering sequins that embellish a dress taken from the Maison’s archive called “Concerto” which has the signature of 1934.
The prints are a little naïve, the tailoring is finished with sporty details, the Robe de Style is reinterpreted in a playful baby-doll of fresher proportions.
Accessories play with Lanvin’s identity: the “Happy” bag is reinterpreted through a new curved design called “Smile”, the “Flash X” sneakers with a unique design that includes an elaborate molded sole and technical fabrics, giving life to a new model that integrates the Lanvin sneakers portfolio.
A novelty for this season is the collaboration with Warner Bros (Consumer Products and DC) which leads to the translation of the images of iconic comic characters such as Batman and Catwoman into graphic prints, while the iconic “Curb” sneakers are re-edited with a 90s inspiration, presenting Batman in the light of this co-lab.
The same dialogue between past and future can be found in men, where clothing blends with streetwear in soft relaxed layers, characterized by broad shoulders and a combination of couture fabrics such as satin and fine wool.
A re-calibration of Lanvin’s work for modern times and for the lives of contemporary men and women.
